I’ve been off work this week, so I should have had time to post every day, right?
Well, on New Year’s Eve Amma slipped and fell in her house, bonking her head on the way down. She landed in the hospital and we discovered she has pneumonia too. She’s okay now but needs some recovery time, which she is stubbornly fighting. She can barely walk and her lungs sound terrible, but that didn’t stop her from flinging off her covers and saying, “Lets get out of here” when Brad, my mom, and I showed up for a visit yesterday. I also had to keep her from ripping out her IV. She doesn’t know it yet, but she’s going into a rehab facility for a couple of weeks and then off to a nursing home. We can’t even convince her she needs to stay in the hospital till Monday, so how are we going to drag her to a home? Sheesh. She is absolutely miserable in the hospital, but should be getting out soon. If, of course, she didn’t claw her way out in the middle of the night.
In other news, we had a playgroup yesterday! 22 of our favorite 8-week to 4.5 year olds running around in our sunny backyard. That was a lot of fun and a great distraction from Amma, Queen of Stubborn. We’ve been riding bikes, playing Wii, and playing with friends this week. The weather has been great! Several days this week it was over 70 degrees and sunny, although it rained a bit yesterday. On Tuesday we went to the Childrens Museum. At lunch after, Dixon ordered a taco. When it arrived, he turned up his nose and declared, “This taco looks like diarrhea”. Nice. I’m halfway through the second Twilight book, and went to see the movie last night. Awesome. And Monday, I turn into a pumpkin again and go back to work.
Only 14 days till the birthday party!! Woohooo!
