In an unprecedented exhibit on display until August 2009, the American Museum of Natural History in New York City is bringing the public to get up close and personal with the climate crisis.

The exhibit, which is titled, Climate Change: The Threat to Life and A New Energy Future is organized by the American Museum of Natural History, New York, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture & Heritage, United Arab Emirates; The Cleveland Museum of Natural History; The Field Museum, Chicago; Instituto Sangari, São Paulo, Brazil; Junta de Castilla y León, Spain; Korea Green Foundation, Seoul; Natural History Museum of Denmark, Copenhagen; Papalote Museo del Niño, Mexico City, Mexico; and Saint Louis Science Center.

After the event closes at AMNH in August, it will embark on a world tour of many of these sponsoring institutions.

The exhibit is massive, with 8 sections exploring topics like, the dramatic rise of carbon in our atmosphere in the last 400 years, how scientists know the atmosphere is changing, the impact of melting polar ice, the negative impact of burning fossil fuels and how individuals can make a difference.

To help promote the exhibit, the Museum has put together an impressive Web site, full of facts about climate change, a video of how the exhibit was put together, and their own sustainability efforts. Check it out now to see if the exhibit will stop at a museum near you!
