I went last Saturday to the Art Car Parade here in Houston with Kenneth. We went last year and weren’t prepared (no chairs, sunscreen, water, etc.) so I brought all the appropriate accessories for the parade, plus an umbrella to shade us, especially helpful since the spots we found to sit weren’t in the shade.
Kenneth asked to take the pictures, and boy did he take plenty. You’ll see the edges of the umbrella in a lot of the pictures, plus most of them were taken sideways. Just wanted to let you know!
Reminding us to recycle
Never complete without Ronald McDonald’s shoe
Those are reflectors all over
This one was very cute. Both ends of the car can direct where the car goes!
Kenneth’s attempt at a photo of me (and yes, I am getting my hair trimmed/shaped this Saturday)
The guy on the front was singing opera while the car was moving. I think it won a category.
Jake and Elwood
All yarn! Can you imagine the time it took??
Mayor Bill White was the grand marshall. Kenneth didn’t do too bad taking this photo, did he?
This car, unfortunately, comes with a bad story. The driver of the car was sitting on the curb outside of a museum later that night and was hit by a drunk driver. He died later that night.
I took Kenneth to get ice cream after the parade and we went to Dairy Queen. As we were leaving, there was a little boy just bawling around the corner of the entrance. He was no more than 6-7 years old. I asked him if he was okay and he shook his head yes. I asked him if he was lost and he shook his head no. I asked him if his mom was inside and he shook his head yes. So, I went to the entrance and looked inside and sure enough, there was his family. I don’t know the whole story, but they didn’t even seem remotely concerned he was out there upset. And, this wasn’t in the best part of town. What’s up with that??
