A major monographic exhibition devoted to Vincenzo Danti at the Bargello Museum in Florence
The pretext for the Vincenzo Danti exhibition in Florence is the recent restoration of his best-known bronze group. The artist who produced the statues representing the Beheading of Saint John the Baptist above the ‘Doors of Paradise’ of the Baptistry also produced many other sculptures, most of which are held in the Bargello Museum.

Danti worked for a long time in the service of the Medici family alongside Giambologna. The exhibition comprises works held in various museums around the world and offers a good opportunity for assessing his oeuvre.[ read more ]

The exhibition I grandi bronzi del Battistero. L’arte di Vincenzo Danti discepolo di Michelangelo runs from 16 April to 7 September at the Bargello National Museum.
Open daily from 8.15am to 6pm, except for the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month and 1 May.

I recently did a post for OK Great on some great shoes covered in illustration by Masa, and they ought to be included in the Virtual Shoe Museum. I’m not that into shoes, mostly because I’m really into comfort, but even I got excited looking through all the crazy shoes in the Virtual Shoe Museum. The best part of all is that you can search for shoes by material (paper, lace, feathers) or use (furniture) or even color. (via Lost at E Minor. Thanks Brendan!).

Today's shot comes from Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art which Megan and I visited last week. One of the big perks, I think, of visiting places that are home to more than 60,000 people is the opportunity to admire the architecture. Granted, this shot is of a three story staircase, but all the same the options of aesthetically pleasing buildings are far more limited in Great Falls, MT (for those of you from home, feel free to correct me if you feel I'm wrong. I'm certainly open for new places to shoot).

In any case, the museum was a nice little exercise for my right brain, which is always appreciated. Back to tulips tomorrow, probably.

First day of work today. Rhonda and I worked on a redesign for the MSU - Great Falls website. Loving it already…
