Museum News & Commentary

Writer Oliver Wingate has climbed aboard the good ship District. Having worked on a number of projects with Oliver we thought it was time to cement, or at least sticky tape the relationship.  He is a very talented poet, script writer and copywriter.  In 1999 he was shortlisted in the Orange Prize for Screenwriting with an original Screenplay and in 2004 he was nominated for a D&AD in Writing for Design for his work on the Science Museum’s Dana Centre. He recently completed his MA in Writing the Visual at Norwich School of Art and Design. With over 30 years experience in advertising, design and direct mail he will be working with us on all things conceptual and writingy - that reminds me another talent of Oliver’s is to make up words when the dictionary is just not up to the job. Apart from his exceptional experience we came to realise we just clicked creatively and got on so look forward to working with him in the months to come.

Welcome aboard. We have only one request, alright three - no running, diving or heavy petting.

What we have is not a fight between two great candidates (except for between each campaign because there can be only one president) but an embarrassment of riches. Democrats and Independents are enjoying one of the most rich fields of presidential candidates in more than a generation: two great Dems, each of whom deserves my vote.

I will vote for Hillary in the primary because she is the stronger, more knowledgeable candidate. But, I will be a very enthusiastic supporter of Barak Obama if he is nominated.

My hope is that either one, as president, will take a page from Lincoln’s presidency and as so brilliantly described in Doris Kearns Goodwin’s Team of Rivals, appoint her opponents to her cabinet: Obama as Vice President with a huge portfolio (a la Gore); Edwards at Justice; Dodd at Treasury; Biden at State; Richardson at Defense; Kucinich at Labor and HUD; McCain at United Nations; Giuliani at Homeland Security.

O happy day!

Eliza the website .com where I found this print. I ordered it before Christmas and just got it the other day. The girl who painted it is from Mexico so the envelope has cool Mexico stamps on it.

/>Anyways, that is the latest addition to what Rodger refers to as my “museum”. What can I say, I love art. Most of my framed prints are packed up in my parent’s garage along with more than half of my stuff. I really hate packing so I decided to leave most of it boxed up so it is ready to go when I move out again. Back at my old place my walls were covered with prints and such. Now I have the bare necessities such as this, the paintings Rodger made for me, my Matisse from Austria, and my Story People print. When I do move again it will be fun to unpack them all and see what I have.

I am always on the look out at garage sales, online, etc for fun art.

Also, here is the other item I bought on .com as a Christmas present for Rodger. No explanation needed.
